MEDIA RELEASE

Florida Alliance for Retired Americans (FLARA) Endorses “Deutsch Universal Healthcare Plan”

Today a press conference was held at the Social Security Administration Building in West Palm Beach to officially announce the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans’ (FLARA) endorsement of the “Deutsch Universal Healthcare Plan.”

FLARA president Tony Fransetta, and a cross-section of the organization’s 161,000 members were in attendence to voice their support for Rep. Peter Deutsch’s proposal, which is a centerpiece of the senatorial candidate’s Fair Share doctrine.

The Social Security offices are a fitting backdrop for this endorsement, said Fransetta. “We believe deeply and have fought hard for programs that are responsive to the needs of seniors. Health care is a number one concern of working families in Florida. Peter Deutsch’s plan will help get 3 million Floridians currently without health care into the system.”

Rep. Deutsch has a 22-year record of advocacy for working men and women. This weekend’s co-endorsement by the Florida AFL-CIO was earned not only by the congressman’s voting record, but his friendship and shared goals with organized labor. “This was an important endorsement by important people, built on mutual trust,” said Deutsch.

The Florida Alliance for Retired Americans works on behalf of seniors, studying issues and making recommendations to improve the quality of life of retirees over the coming decades.
