Florida PIRG Commends Congressman Peter Deutsch On Public Interest Issues
HOLLYWOOD - Today, the Florida Public Interest Research Group (Florida PIRG) commended Congressman Peter Deutsch (FL-20) for his voting record on public interest issues.
Deutsch earned one of the highest scores in the Florida congressional delegation. According to Florida PIRG, only five out of the 27 members of the delegation voted for the public interest more than 80% of the time. Florida PIRG is distributing the individual Congressional scorecards to tens of thousands of households in Florida as part of its door-to-door campaign to work with Congress to reduce mercury emissions from polluting power plants and enforce the Clean Air Act
"We applaud Senator Nelson and Representatives Brown, Deutsch, Hastings and Wexler for being public interest heroes. They received scores over 80 percent for consistently voting in the public interest," said Mark Ferrulo, Director of Florida PIRG. "Rep. Deutsch was one of the highest scoring members among our entire delegation and we recognize his consistent public interest voting record."
