Deutsch raises $800,000 during Q4; reports $4 million cash on hand

FT. LAUDERDALE – U.S. Rep. Peter Deutsch, Democratic senatorial candidate, today released his campaign fundraising totals for the 4th quarter of 2003.

During the months of October, November and December 2003, Congressman Deutsch raised $800,000 – bringing his campaign’s cash on hand to $4 million in the race to succeed Senator Bob Graham.

Last week, Deutsch filed with the Federal Election Commission to officially close his House re-election committee and transferred all remaining funds to the Deutsch for Senate committee.

“I’m running a serious campaign about Florida’s future,” remarked Deutsch. “Florida's next Senator must be ready to fight for improved healthcare, better funding for public education and continued vigilance against terrorism. My record on these issues speaks clearly and is the primary reason for my fundraising success,” he added.

Since his entry into the race, Congressman Deutsch has held a solid lead over his primary and prospective Republican opponents in the chase for campaign cash.
